Sultan Suleiman (English Title: The Magnificent Century) is a Turkish historical fiction television series It is based on the life on the life of the Ottoman Sultan “Suleiman The Magnificent” the longest-reigning sultan of the Ottoman Empire, and his wife Hurrem Sultan, a slave girl who became the first Ottoman Haseki Sultan. It also shines the light on the era known as the “Sultanate of Women”.

Sultan Ahmed I, who unexpectedly ascended the throne after the sudden death of his father, vows that he would not murder his younger brother, Mustafa. Meanwhile, Anastasia, who was brought to the palace by order of Safiye Sultan, is gifted to Ahmed as a slave. Although Anastasia initially wanted to return to her home and family, she falls in love with the young sultan and adopts the name Kösem. Kösem increases her dominance in the palace by giving birth to four princes and four princesses and by defeating all her enemies. She becomes Ahmed's chief consort, or Haseki Sultan, and thus puts an end to the reign of Safiye Sultan in the Ottoman harem. Years later, when Sultan Ahmed passes away, the black winter just started for Kösem Sultan. With the agnatic seniority system enforced following Ahmed's death, his younger brother Şehzade Mustafa ascends the throne as Mustafa I, but as his mental health deteriorates, he is dethroned and replaced by Kösem Sultan's step-son, Osman. As Sultan Osman II grows wary of his stepmother Kösem's increasing power, he banished her to the old palace and attempts to establish a new army in place of the Janissary army. He is eventually deposed by the janissaries and brutally murdered in the Yedikule Dungeons, and his uncle Sultan Mustafa ascends the throne for the second time. Later, he is dethroned by Kösem Sultan and her son Şehzade Murad becomes the new sultan. Safiye Sultan gives Kösem Sultan the Hürrem Sultan’s ring when she was killing herself. Also, Sultan Ahmed gave Kösem Sultan Hürrem Sultan’s crown. The palace still talks about Hürrem, Nurbanu Sultan and Safiye Sultan as the most powerful women’s in the World.
